Title: Starting an open access journal in Iceland
Authors: Watson, Ian
Citation: ScieCom Info 2009, 5(3)
Issue Date: 2009
Abstract: The Bifröst Journal of Social Science / Tímarit um félagsvísindi is one of Iceland’s first open access journals and the first to use Open Journal Systems software. This article summarizes lessons learned from the first three years of the journal’s operation, including issues connected to funding, staffing, peer review, printing, bibliographic formats, and the future of open access journal publishing in Iceland.
Tímarit um félagsvísindi er eitt fyrsta tímarit í opnum aðgang á Íslandi og það fyrsta sem notar Open Journal Systems hugbúnaðinn. Greinin segir frá þeim lærdómi sem dreginn hefur verið af fyrstu þremur árunum í útgáfu tímaritsins og fjallar meðal annars um fjármögnun, mannauðsmál, ritrýni, prentun, form tilvísana, og framtíð opins aðgangs á Íslandi.
