Abstract
Flest deyjum við af völdum hjarta- og æðasjúkdóma. Þrátt fyrir gríðarlegar framfarir í meðferð þessara sjúkdóma eru þeir ennþá orsök 55% dauðsfalla hjá konum og um 43% karla. Það er líklegra að sá sem les þessar línur deyi úr hjarta- og æðasjúkdómi en af völdum allra tegunda krabbameina samanlagt. Þrátt fyrir að gríðarlegar framfarir hafi orðið í meðferð hjarta- og æðasjúkdóma, er stærri hluti þjóðarinnar hjartveikur en var fyrir nokkrum áratugum. Mótsögnin í þessu stafar af því að bætt greining og meðferð hjarta- og æðasjúkdóma hefur leitt til þess að horfur þeirra sem fá hjartasjúkdóm eru betri en áður var. Af þessu leiðir að fleiri lifa með sjúkdóminn fram á efri ár. Kostnaður samfélagsins vegna hjarta- og æðasjúkdóma er gríðarlegur. Heildarkostnaður vegna þessara sjúkdóma innan Evrópusambandsins er 169 milljarðar evra á ári.

Export search results

The export option will allow you to export the current search results of the entered query to a file. Different formats are available for download. To export the items, click on the button corresponding with the preferred download format.

By default, clicking on the export buttons will result in a download of the allowed maximum amount of items.
