Abstract
Árið 1953 birtist í amerísku læknatímariti grein eftir dr. John Morris, en hann var fæðingalæknir við Yale háskóla í Bandaríkjunum (1). Þar sagði hann frá 82 konum sem allar höfðu eðlilegt útlit þrátt fyrir að kynkirtlar þeirra reyndust vera eistu. Titill greinar dr. Morris var The syndrome of testicular feminisation in male pseudohermaphrodites. Seinna leiddu rannsóknir í ljós að konur með testicular feminisation syndrome höfðu eðlilegt útlit ytri kynfæra, en legháls, leg og eggjaleiðarar voru ekki til staðar. Fyrr á árum var vandamálið oftast nær greint í tengslum við að ung kona fór til rannsókna vegna þess að blæðingar höfðu ekki hafist eða vegna ófrjósemi. Kviðslit í nára var einnig tiltölulega algengt upphafseinkenni sem var þá orsakað af þrýstingi frá kynkirtlum. Nú á síðari árum kemur fyrir að vandamálið greinist við fæðingu. Rannsóknir á frumum úr legvatni hafa þá ef til vill sýnt eðlilega litninga, en síðan fæðist barn sem er annars kyns en vænst var. Á síðari árum hefur testicular feminisation syndrome vikið fyrir heitinu androgen insensitivity syndrome (AIS) eða heilkenni andrógenónæmis (2,3).

Export search results
