Abstract
The Conners-Wells' Adolescent Self-Report Scale: Long version was standardized on a sample of 871 Icelandic students, 11 to 16 years of age. Principal-axis factoring revealed six factors comprising 44,8% of the variance. Item-analysis supported the principal factors of the scale and coefficient alphas ranged from .79 to .90. Older students scored highter than younger students on the scale and males scored higher than females on hyperactivity, conduct problems, cognitive problems and family problems. Females scored higher than males on emotional problems. Two girls met the critera for AD/HD based on the scale for every three boys. The correlation between teachers and students on symptoms of AD/HD was adequate. A higher percentage of students met the criteria for AD/HD based on the scale according to teachers than according to students.
