The comparability of WISC-IVis and WPPSI-Ris scaled scores in a sample of six to seven years old children

Aldursviðmið WPPSI-Ris og WISC-IVis skarast hjá sex til rúmlega sjö ára bömum. Bæði prófin er því hægt að nota á þessum aldri. Engar upplýsingar eru þó til um samræmi greindartalna í WPPSI-Ris og WISC-IVis. Til að bæta úr þessu voru sex kjaraapróf í WISC-IVis og tíu kjarnapróf í WPPSI-Ris lögð fyrir 50 sex til rúmlega sjö ára börn og frammistaða þeirra borin saman á fjórum undirprófum, tveim prófhlutum og heildartölu greindar. Marktæk fylgni (r = 0,75, /?<0,01) var milli heildartölu greindar í WPPSI-Ris og mælitölu Vitsmunastarfs í WISC-IVis, munnlegrar greindartölu í WPPSI-Ris og mælitölu Málstarfs í WISC-IVis (r = 0,74, p<0,01), verklegrar greindartölu í WPPSI-Ris og mælitölu Skynhugsunar í WISC-IVis (r = 0,66, p<0,0\)- Margbreytudreifigreining (MANOVA) var gerð til að athuga hvort marktækur munur væri á mismun mælitalna fjögurra undirprófa sem bera sömu nöfn í WPPSI-Ris og WISC-IVis (Orðskilningur, Líkingar, Skilningur, Litafletir), og þriggja heildartalna úr prófunum tveim. f heild var margbreytuprófið marktækt (F(7,43)=14,30558, /?<0,001). Þetta stafar af því að mismunur undirprófanna Orðskilningur (p<0,001), Skilningur (p<0,005) og Litafletir (p<0,001) á prófunum tveim er marktækur. Munur á heildartölu greindar í WPPSI-Ris og mælitölu Vitsmunastarfs í WISC-IVis var ómarktækur (p=0,491). Það sama á við um mun á munnlegri greindartölu í WPPSI-Ris og mælitölu Málstarfs í WISC-IVis(p=0,089) og á verklegri greindartölu í WPPSI-Ris og mælitölu Skynhugsunar í WISC-IVis (p=0,315). Norms for the Icelandic standardization of WPPSI-R and WISC-IV overlap for six to seven years old children. Data is lacking on the comparability of IQs in WPPSI-RIS and index scores in WISC-IVIS. In this study, six core subtests on the WISC-IVIS and ten core subtests on the WPPSI-RIS were administered to 50 six to seven years old children. The children's performance was compared on subtests, index scores and IQs in the two instruments. A significant corrlelation emerged between WPPSI-RIS Full Scale IQ and WISC-IV18 General Ability Index (r = 0,75, p<0,01), WPPSI-RIS Verbal IQ and WISC-IVIS Verbal Comprehension Index (r = 0,74, /?<0,01), WPPSI-RIS Performance IQ and WISC-IVIS Perceptual Reasoning Index (r = 0,66, /?<0,01). Multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) was conducted to investigate if there was a significant difference between scaled scores on the four subtests with the same names in WPPSI-RIS and WISC-IVIS (Vocabulary, Similarities, Comprehension, Block Design), three IQ's, and three Indexes in the two tests. The multivariate analysis of variance yielded a significant F ratio of 14, 31 (df = 7/43, p<0,001). Univariate F tests revealed that this was because the difference between Vocabulary (/?<0,001) on the two instruments, Comprehension (p<0,005), and Block Design ( /?<0,001), were significant. The difference between Full Scale IQ on the WPPSI-RIS and General Ability Index on the WISC-IVIS was nonsignificant (p=0,491). The same applies to WPPSI-RIS Verbal IQ and WISC-IVIS Verbal Comprehension Index (p=0,089) and between WPPSI-RIS Performance IQ and WISC-IVIS Perceptual Reasoning Index Q?=0,315). However, the nonsignificant difference between Verbal IQ and Verbal Comprehension Index on the one hand and Performance IQ and Perceptual Reasoning Index on the other hand is only equivocal, since significant main effects of sex and order of test administration emerged on WPPSI-RIS Verbal IQ and WISC-jyis Verbal Comprehension Index. In general, the results of this study indicate that WPPSI-RIS Full Scale IQ and WISC-IV^ General Ability Index are comparable.
